7th Anniversary

Zach and I celebrated our 7th Anniversary on February 19th by going on a mini vacation/job interview to Bend, Oregon.  My parents drove up to Walla Walla the day before we left and stayed with Declan.  It was so fun to get away for a little while!  On our way to Bend, Zach surprised me with a new camera!  We have a nice SLR camera but it's a little too bulky to take everywhere so he got a nice little point a shoot and I love it!  Here's the first picture ever taken with the new camera.  Zach will love this. :)

Anyway, we left on Friday afternoon around 4 and got to our hotel in Redmond around 8:30.  The drive from Walla Walla to Redmond is quite boring.  There were only a few little towns that we drove through and luckily we had a full tank of gas since by the time we were driving through everything was closed.  It was a little weird.  The next day we drove around Redmond in the morning for a little bit to see it in day light.  Zach then had a working interview where he performed eye exams on the staff and their family members for a few hours.  After that was done him and I were able to go to lunch and then we both went to the office and met up with Dr. Sheldon who was interviewing Zach.  Dr. Sheldon drove us around to all the different offices (he has 4 in the area) and showed us around all the different towns around Redmond.  It was really nice of him and we really enjoyed the areas he showed us.  After a few hours of driving around we went back to the hotel and rested up a bit before going to dinner in Bend with Dr. Sheldon and his wife.  The restaurant they took us to was amazing and it was fun to see parts of Bend.

The next day was Sunday, we got up early and headed to church with Dr. Sheldon and his family.  We wanted to check out a ward in the area.  Afterwards we drove back to Bend and spent the day walking around the Old Mill District.  It was great to see Bend in daylight.  It is such a gorgeous city!  This is the only picture we got of the two of us during our trip. (I swear my face gains 10 lbs itself when I'm pregnant...)

We had so much fun on our mini vacation!  We left feeling really good about the interview and thinking that if Zach was offered the position we would probably say yes!  Zach kept in really good contact with Dr. Sheldon during the next month.  In the middle of March Dr. Sheldon called and offered the position to Zach!  He gave him all the details of the job over the phone and asked him to think about it and let him know as soon as we could.  Well, we had been talking about it for a month so we talked about it for about 10 minutes and Zach called him back and accepted the job!  haha.  It's so crazy to know where we will be and have a real job.  I'm SO proud of Zach.  He has worked so very hard the last 5 years plus the 4 of undergrad to get where he is going now.  So, Zach will be the newest optometrist at Central Oregon Eyecare.  We'll be moving to Redmond on June 30th.  The next 2 months are going to be a little stressful but I'm sure we'll survive!

What did Declan do while we were gone?  Beat up on Papa Pat...

He had fun with my mom also but the only pictures I have of them together, my mom is in her pajamas and I don't think she would like me posting those! :)

Valentine's Day

We have a tradition of pizza and root beer for Valentine's Day but this year we ended up getting Chinese. About a week before Zach had a job interview in Chehalis, WA and while he was there we both ended up getting the stomach flu.  He happened to eat pizza the night before so therefore, he wasn't really up to eating it again so soon!  It was a horrible flu and I felt so bad that Zach had it while trying to interview but we were both glad to have our own bathrooms!  We only have one in our apt. so it ended up being a good thing that that he was gone. :)  Anyway, here are more pics of Declan opening his Valentine's day presents.
A new shirt and socks from Grandma and Grandpa Oswald!  This kid loves getting new clothes. :)
 Trying on his new shirt!

Puzzles and a new race car from mom and dad.

Forts and Exercise

My friend, Whitney, gave Declan this awesome fort kit for Christmas.  He loves to help me set it up and turn off all the lights except for a flash light and make ghost noises!  Thanks again Whit!  These pics were taken with Zach's phone so not the best quality...

Declan decided he wanted to start exercising with me.  It was very entertaining to watch him try and imitate the video.  Great way to get some of his energy out though!!

Mini Golfing

A new miniature golf course opened in Walla Walla and we decided to check it out on Martin Luther King Jr. Day since Zach had the day off work.  Declan has his own set of plastic clubs that he plays with at home quite a bit so he knew exactly what to do!  It was funny at first though because we would tell him to put it in the hole and after hitting it a few times he would just pick the ball up and place it in the hole!  After watching Zach and I play though, he understood what he was supposed to do.  He definitely had fun - he's been asking to go back recently.  It amazes me that he remembers things like this after so many months have passed.

Afterwards we tried out a new place to eat - Mr. Ed's.  It was really good food and great milkshakes - Declan didn't want to share Zach's milkshake.  Anytime Zach tried to take a sip Declan would push his head away and say, "go away, dad!  That's mine!"  It turned out to be a fun game for the two of them.

We ended the day by going grocery shopping.  While I was checking out Zach took Declan to the little arcade/toy area in Wal-mart.  He never gets to do this when he goes shopping with just me so he was in heaven!

Also, I forgot to mention that a few days before this I was chasing Declan who was on Zach's shoulders and since I had a slightly bigger belly than I was used to - I couldn't see that Declan had left a few toys on the ground in the living room.  I twisted my foot on one of his toy dinosaurs started to fall forward and made myself turn around (twisting my foot again), fell into our wall and then finally fell on the floor.  It all happened so fast that I didn't realize what had completely happened until a few days later.  Honestly, I thought I broke my tailbone at first especially when Zach turned around and said, "whoa, you broke the wall!"

It was when I tried to get up and walk I realized I did something bad to my foot.  The next day Zach came home really early from work and we went to an urgent care in town to find out that I had indeed broken my 5th metatarsal bone in my foot.  (The furthest bone on the outside, leading to the pinky toe bone.)  I got to wear a sweet boot for about 2 weeks and I'm glad to say now it really does feel completely healed.  That's the last time I'm chasing after my boys while pregnant.

We love Home Depot

In January we randomly went to Home Depot to look at some rugs and when we walked in the greeter told us to check out the kid's station.  We had no idea what she was talking about but then we saw a bunch of kids gathered with their parent's making little houses.  We decided it would be fun and made one too!  Declan loved being able to help Zach hammer the pieces together and then we let him paint it however he wanted.

Apparently Home Depot does a kid's project every first weekend of the month.  It has now become a tradition for Zach and Declan to do together.  He's made this house (which is a piggy bank), a car, and a box.  Every time we drive by Home Depot (which is just about every day) Declan asks to go there and paint something.  Here are some pictures of the finished product a few days later...

Soon to be even more outnumbered!

I forgot that the best Christmas present we got was finding out that we are going to have another little boy! We were both way excited and kind of relieved when the ultrasound tech said boy. :)  It will be crazy to add another boy in the house - Declan and Zach already gang up on me as it is!  I'm excited to meet him (hopefully in about 4 weeks!).  No, we don't have a name all picked out yet.  We have a few we keep going back and forth on so I guess we'll figure it out when we see him!  Just like with Declan. :)  I think Declan is starting to understand the idea of what a baby is...he loves to feel the baby move and he has definitely noticed that my belly just keeps getting bigger.  He likes to call me the really big mom!  He also tells us that he has a baby in his belly and that it moves.  ha ha.  Hopefully he likes his little brother and doesn't have too hard of a time sharing his parent's attention!  These are ultrasound pics from when I was 18 weeks along.

Zach mentioned that he is an optometrist so the tech got a picture of the lens of the baby's eye.  Kind of creepy looking, really!

Here are some more pictures from our trip home during Christmas.

 Kissing cousins!

Landry's Visit!

Our awesome friends, Tex and Whitney and Luke, came up to Idaho while we were home.  We loved being able to spend time with them - even if it was a quick trip.  It was so fun to watch Declan and Luke play together again.  We lived next to them in Utah and they played all the time there.  We walked around BYU-I campus, went bowling, went to lunch, and just had fun catching up.  When we were putting the boys to bed Declan kept asking to sleep in Luke's bed with him so we got a picture.  These two boys crack me up!

Thanks again for coming up!  We miss you guys!!
