Mini Golfing

A new miniature golf course opened in Walla Walla and we decided to check it out on Martin Luther King Jr. Day since Zach had the day off work.  Declan has his own set of plastic clubs that he plays with at home quite a bit so he knew exactly what to do!  It was funny at first though because we would tell him to put it in the hole and after hitting it a few times he would just pick the ball up and place it in the hole!  After watching Zach and I play though, he understood what he was supposed to do.  He definitely had fun - he's been asking to go back recently.  It amazes me that he remembers things like this after so many months have passed.

Afterwards we tried out a new place to eat - Mr. Ed's.  It was really good food and great milkshakes - Declan didn't want to share Zach's milkshake.  Anytime Zach tried to take a sip Declan would push his head away and say, "go away, dad!  That's mine!"  It turned out to be a fun game for the two of them.

We ended the day by going grocery shopping.  While I was checking out Zach took Declan to the little arcade/toy area in Wal-mart.  He never gets to do this when he goes shopping with just me so he was in heaven!

Also, I forgot to mention that a few days before this I was chasing Declan who was on Zach's shoulders and since I had a slightly bigger belly than I was used to - I couldn't see that Declan had left a few toys on the ground in the living room.  I twisted my foot on one of his toy dinosaurs started to fall forward and made myself turn around (twisting my foot again), fell into our wall and then finally fell on the floor.  It all happened so fast that I didn't realize what had completely happened until a few days later.  Honestly, I thought I broke my tailbone at first especially when Zach turned around and said, "whoa, you broke the wall!"

It was when I tried to get up and walk I realized I did something bad to my foot.  The next day Zach came home really early from work and we went to an urgent care in town to find out that I had indeed broken my 5th metatarsal bone in my foot.  (The furthest bone on the outside, leading to the pinky toe bone.)  I got to wear a sweet boot for about 2 weeks and I'm glad to say now it really does feel completely healed.  That's the last time I'm chasing after my boys while pregnant.

We love Home Depot

In January we randomly went to Home Depot to look at some rugs and when we walked in the greeter told us to check out the kid's station.  We had no idea what she was talking about but then we saw a bunch of kids gathered with their parent's making little houses.  We decided it would be fun and made one too!  Declan loved being able to help Zach hammer the pieces together and then we let him paint it however he wanted.

Apparently Home Depot does a kid's project every first weekend of the month.  It has now become a tradition for Zach and Declan to do together.  He's made this house (which is a piggy bank), a car, and a box.  Every time we drive by Home Depot (which is just about every day) Declan asks to go there and paint something.  Here are some pictures of the finished product a few days later...

Soon to be even more outnumbered!

I forgot that the best Christmas present we got was finding out that we are going to have another little boy! We were both way excited and kind of relieved when the ultrasound tech said boy. :)  It will be crazy to add another boy in the house - Declan and Zach already gang up on me as it is!  I'm excited to meet him (hopefully in about 4 weeks!).  No, we don't have a name all picked out yet.  We have a few we keep going back and forth on so I guess we'll figure it out when we see him!  Just like with Declan. :)  I think Declan is starting to understand the idea of what a baby is...he loves to feel the baby move and he has definitely noticed that my belly just keeps getting bigger.  He likes to call me the really big mom!  He also tells us that he has a baby in his belly and that it moves.  ha ha.  Hopefully he likes his little brother and doesn't have too hard of a time sharing his parent's attention!  These are ultrasound pics from when I was 18 weeks along.

Zach mentioned that he is an optometrist so the tech got a picture of the lens of the baby's eye.  Kind of creepy looking, really!

Here are some more pictures from our trip home during Christmas.

 Kissing cousins!

Landry's Visit!

Our awesome friends, Tex and Whitney and Luke, came up to Idaho while we were home.  We loved being able to spend time with them - even if it was a quick trip.  It was so fun to watch Declan and Luke play together again.  We lived next to them in Utah and they played all the time there.  We walked around BYU-I campus, went bowling, went to lunch, and just had fun catching up.  When we were putting the boys to bed Declan kept asking to sleep in Luke's bed with him so we got a picture.  These two boys crack me up!

Thanks again for coming up!  We miss you guys!!

Christmas with the Bennett's

After brunch with Zach's family we drove to Rexburg and celebrated Christmas with my parents and my Grandpa.  It was fun to watch Declan interact with my Grandpa - he's only been around him a couple times and he warmed up really fast.  Actually, Declan warms up to elderly people SO much faster than anyone else.  The lady that lives below us is in her 90's and Declan just loves her - he always asks about Dottie and gives her hugs every time we see her.  Anyway, he loved opening presents AGAIN!

He kept going to the BIG present and wrapping his arms around it and trying to pick it up.  We finally let him open it after all the others were open.  He loves his train table!

How many men does it take to put together a toddler toy?  :)
